Avaible for sale the historic Classic Portofino Pilot 1973 Wooden Cruiser, a fascinating pilot boat originally built by the GIAM S.a.s. Shipyard in Rapallo. Initially serving as a patrol boat for the Carabinieri, this vessel underwent a complete refit in 1996 by the renowned ROMOLI Shipyard in Livorno. She features a unique wooden planking hull, built with mahogany planking over an acacia frame, ensuring excellent structural integrity. This classic powerboat is registered and certified for unlimited navigation (maximum 8 persons).
Accommodation and Interior Layout
The interiors, finished in solid mahogany wood, offer a total of four berths: one double V-berth in the bow and two single beds in the dinette. A small but functional separate bathroom is present, equipped with hot and cold water. The living area features a fitted kitchenette with a sink and a two-burner stove, alongside a spacious dinette with an extendable table.
Exterior and Deck Features
The exterior is designed for comfort and leisure cruising. The Pilot Boat is equipped with a large cockpit and a comfortable sunbathing area on the bow. The stern features a small swimming platform with a ladder and a hot/cold shower for easy sea access.
Hull Maintenance and Structure
The meticulous care of this vessel is evident in the recent works:
Major Replacements (2022): All bronze sea cocks and propeller shaft bushings were replaced in 2022 – Seam Caulking: Completed at the end of 2024 – Last Hull Service (Antifouling): Carried out in March 2024.
Engine Details and Consumption
The Pilot Boat is powered by 2 CUMMINS da 250 HP ENGINES installed in 2003 (with official invoice) and currently showing approximately 1,500 hours. The engines are regularly serviced by a specialized shipyard mechanic. The inverters were overhauled in 2021 (with official invoice). Despite their power, fuel consumption is very low: approximately 36 liters/hour at cruising speed (9-10 knots).
